There are a lot of Hot Spring Resorts in Taipei. However if you want to experience it like a local, you should visit the Millennium Hot Spring in Taipei.

Millennium Hot Spring 新北投千禧湯露天溫泉
Address: No. 6, Zhongshan Rd, Beitou District, Taipei City, Taiwan 112

Travelling to Millennium Hot Spring is easy. Just take Taipei Metro Tamsui-Xinyi Line to Beitou Station and from Beitou Station transfer to the "Xinbeitou" Station. The train to Xinbeitou is very nicely decorated.

Once you alight from Xinbeitou station, walk along Zhongshan Road to Millennium Hot Spring for about 8 minutes. It is a short walk! Along the way you will also pass by the Beitou Hot Spring Museum (free) and Taipei Public Library.

Entrance fee is NTD 40. The hot spring is open only at certain hours as they need to clean up in between each sessions. You can go in anytime during the opening hours.

5:30am– 7:30am
8:00am – 10:00am
10:30am –1:00pm
1:30pm – 4:00pm
4:30pm – 7:00pm
7:30pm –10:00pm

You will need to bring your swimwear. However if you forget, you still can purchase from their shop but it might be expensive. There are toilets for you to change and lockers which cost NTD 20 per usage.

There are a total of 3 hot springs and 2 cold springs. The hottest is at 43 to 45 degree c. Followed by 41 to 42 degree c and 35 to 40 degree c. Before heading towards them, you'll need to use the shower head to rinse your entire body. Once you have decide which hot or cold spring you want to try, you'll need to wash your feet with the bucket place at the side of the spring each time you want to enter the spring. You are also not allowed to just soak your feet. You'll have to soak your whole body into the spring.

For ladies, remember to tie up your hair or you can use the red rubber band provided at the hot spring. The water is sulphuric hence do not wear any jewellery or let the water touch your face or hair.

The hot spring is quite popular with the local elderlies. The place is mostly filled with local elderlies coming for a relaxing soak. Actually I preferred the cold spring to the hot spring. Probably because it was summer when I went. Haha.

Once you are done soaking, you can get a cold shower in the cubicle. If you prefer to use the hot shower instead, you can use the coin operated hot shower cubicle for around NTD 10 or NTD 20. There are also coin operated hair dryers and washing machines for you to use.

To complete your hot spring experience, you can buy the ice pop (NTD 20) from the entrance before leaving!

Feeling refreshed after the hot spring and shower.

We went to the hot spring right after our 4-hour midnight flight and have not showered since the night before as we could not check-in yet. Hence, it was a good way to start the trip clean and fresh!
